Language and cross-cultural awareness training

Politismos language and culture courses are tailor-made and are designed to meet the needs that you or your business have when dealing internationally.

Courses can concentrate on:

• language acquisition, English, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic etc
• enhancing cultural awareness of a specific region or country
• enhancing cultural awareness specific to certain tasks, e.g. negotiating, in certain regions
• general cross-cultural training, e.g. culture shock

It is impossible to learn a language without learning something about the culture and our cultural classes will also have a language content. All courses are bespoke and designed to meet the specific needs of the client.

Content and Structure

Content will be based on a needs assessment of trainees before the course commences. Course objectives are based on the outcomes of this assessment.

• Materials used will typically be a commercially-produced course book, company promotional materials, recordings from radio and TV, newspaper articles, websites etc
• Activities are based on the needs of trainees but may include speaking, listening, reading and writing activities, discussions, role-plays, grammar-study, pronunciation work etc
• An agreed amount of time can be spent studying online with the tutor

Training Staff

Trainers are experienced and professional and, certainly at more advanced levels, will be native speakers of the language concerned or have many years direct experience of the culture.

Delivery and location

Courses can be for individuals or for groups. Lessons may take place once a week for an hour or two or may be intensive over one or two days. Whichever is suitable for you and your business. There are, however, practical and cost implications for your choices and these need to be discussed before starting a course.

One consideration always applies, however, particularly to the skill of learning and using a foreign language. Namely, most progress will be made in the time you manage to devote to language learning outside the classroom. Realistic goals must, therefore, be set depending on the commitment you are able to give.

Courses can be delivered at your convenience on your premises or at an agreed venue suitable for trainer and trainees.
