Politismos Limited provides an essay correction service for non-native speakers of English who are undergraduates or postgraduate students in Hull East Yorkshire and in the UK. If you have completed an assignment or dissertation, we will improve the quality of your academic English so that your work and the ideas and arguments contained in it are not spoilt by poor grammar, style and expression.
Your work will be corrected by experienced native-speaker academics, teachers and writers.
Because we are local we can, if necessary, meet you face-to-face to discuss any problems of interpretation or the final version.
This is not an essay writing service. We only improve the standard of your written, academic English so that you achieve the grades your hard work, study and research deserve.
Our rates give value for money but reflect the quality of staff we employ. The basic rate is £25 per hour but higher rates apply for extremely technical texts or highly urgent pieces of work. How much text can be corrected in one hour depends on how technical the original text is and the quality of the English in the original. One thousand words could take little more than twenty minutes or well over an hour! Generally speaking we provide you with an approximate quotation on submission of the text or even a sample.
How does it work? Having been given an approximate quotation and been invoiced for that amount, you then submit your piece of work, preferably by email using a word document. It is possible to work with hard copy but this is much less efficient and effective and is likely to take longer and cost more (necessity of snailmail or physical delivery, possible legibility problems etc). On payment we pass on your work to one of our experienced staff who will undertake to make the necessary corrections. It is essential that we have your contact details (telephone and email) so that the corrector can contact you for minor queries about the text you have submitted. If there are a large number of queries it may be suitable for you to meet and work with the corrector in order to produce the final version.
For work submitted on a word document the text correction facility will be used. This makes it very clear what has been corrected, leaves it to your discretion as to exactly which changes are to be made and, indirectly but very usefully, means that the whole process can be exploited, if you so wish, as a language learning activity to improve your written English for future pieces of work. Once you have received the final corrected version we will send you a second invoice with details, if necessary, of any possible refund or further payment to be made.
Finally we would like to emphasise that time is very important. Work submitted to us with an urgent deadline will certainly be more expensive, if it is, indeed, possible to complete it in the time available. A professional, high quality of service requires time and effort and we do not wish to compromise on quality. To give you an approximate idea, a piece of work of five thousand words might take from one to two weeks to correct and provide a final draft, depending on the quality of the English in the original and availability of staff.
